quarterback of the New England Patriots who became a driving
force in the success of the team this year.
Can you imagine the New England Patriots heading to Super
Bowl and "winging it?"
In nearly every interview, the players spoke about how
Coach Bill Belichick had drilled the team on play after play -
preparing the team for a win!

Inventory |

| The best
way to have a strong network is to know who is in it. Create
an inventory - you'll be surprised how many people you know.
Write a list of the people you know from:
Work, Past jobs, Family, Extended family, Sports, Volunteer
work, Pets, Community activities, Neighbors, and many other
groups . . .
Start introducing people in your network to each other.
You'll meet new people and so will they!

 1 -
Not preparing: Before you attend an event or make a phone
call, be sure you do some research. Find out about the event,
who is behind it, where they work. If you are making a call,
script and practice.
2 - Making it difficult for people to contact you:
Be sure you have your phone number and email in your email
signature. When you leave a phone message, say the number VERY
slowly.
3 - Not growing your network: Look for ways to gain
visibility. Be a speaker, volunteer your expertise for a trade
association that services your industry, or join a board.
