In the acknowledgements of my book I include a thank you to Mrs. Peterson. She was my high school English teacher in Greencastle, Indiana.

I recall the class when she taught us about superfluous words. Her example was, "He had a smile on his face."

With an impish grin, she asked the class, "Where else would it be?"

Help yourself to a sneak preview

Last April I tried to track her down when the book came out and had no luck. Recently I reconnected with a high school friend who told me she had just passed away at 91 years young.

I encourage you to use this email as an excuse to take 3-5 minutes RIGHT NOW and reconnect with a teacher or friend in your life.

Just imagine how you would feel if you were the friend or teacher who got the call. Go ahead and just do it!
